LSP FULL Ceramic Bearings are in!

Published by Gary at 5:11 pm under News

***UPDATE***
Well, I just tested them and purposely + forcefully landed with lots of impact and I quite easily broke them, so these bearings are only suitable for longboarding / cruising / downhill / bowl skating. Definitely not for any high impact street skating.

Sad… taking this into account, I’ll reduce the price to near cost at $200. I’ll work on improving the design and hopefully come up with one that is suitable for street skating over the next few weeks / months.
***END UPDATE***

These just arrived and in short they are probably the best bearings in the world. These are 100% ceramic, not hybrids like all the other “ceramic” bearings out there, which still have steel races.

I don’t know of any skate company that sells FULL ceramics, and thats probably because they cost about 9 times more than normal ceramic/steel hybrids so they would be too expensive to sell. Like, if they were selling Hybrids for $100, a FULL Ceramic would go for $900 and no one would buy that.

So what LSP has done is gone direct to the factory so that we can sell them at the lowest possible price, which is $250 $200.

Main advantages over all other bearings: 100% Waterproof, Better wear resistance, Least friction (fastest).

Superficial advantages: Lightest bearings, No one else has them, You would be supporting LSP haha.

Disadvantages: Might break. Ceramics are much harder than steel but also more brittle. Feroze broke one a few days ago, he had been testing a slightly inferior sample for 2 months, including jumping down the 12 set at ECP for the King of Gap event. I doubt many people skate as hard as Feroze does, but still I cannot guarantee they won’t break :(

Disclaimer: No, these bearings will not make you skate better. You can only get better at skating by practicing.

I’m only selling these cos I know there are some people out there who just want THE BEST even if it isn’t very financially wise, its like buying a Ferrari when a Toyota can still get you anywhere you need to go.

Haha, awesome, but I still think I will just stick to the normal bearings, no point spending so much cash, it’s $250 & momentum abec 5s are $20, means I can destroy about 12 of them momentum bearings, so don’t think I might get these

You want your bearing to be fast! Its can be any brand, most important is to take the sheild off. Just like the pic . Leave it open without the cover. Expose the balls . Lube it up . It can even be faster than a 250dollars bearing.

  9. Garyon 30 Dec 2009 at 2:56 pm

white is the color of the ceramic material (zirconia)

  10. woohooo!on 30 Dec 2009 at 3:43 pm

like serious? if you take out the bearing cover it’ll be fast? is that true?

remove the shields and there will be less friction. BUT, the balls will come off easily without them.

    hahhahaah
“buying a ferrari when a toyota cans till get you where you need to go”
    nice comparison :P

  13. Garyon 30 Dec 2009 at 7:24 pm

removing the shields will just destroy your bearings because dirt and sand will get inside so it is probably the worst thing you can do to your bearings. some sheilds may contact the inner race of the bearings and because of the slight rubbing, it will be “slower”. However once you skate in them the contact areas will wear out so its fine.

anonymous is really dumb man! I want you to try removing it first! and we’ll see how your bearings works out! how bout that mr. ‘I know everything!’

  15. hahahaon 30 Dec 2009 at 11:33 pm

precisely. Then all the top bearing company sell bearings with the shield for what?
