hi gary need help my skateboard wheel aint spinning other 3 are. any tips? thx

btw crap lol i got my dc red felt up last week no cash ;/ for black

  7. Garyon 29 Sep 2009 at 9:49 pm

meeer: new place will be across the road 5 mins walk from current

bob: did u get ur bearings wet in the rain, they might be rusted. u might also have overtightened the axle nut, make sure your wheel can rattle side to side slightly on the axle. your bearings might also be dirty so clean them if they are.

Ya the new place is at turf city the old turf club.

  9. bobon 30 Sep 2009 at 4:52 pm

hey gary, the problem is the wheel cant rattle. i can rmove the axle. The wheel just seems stucked there, the other 3s can be removed properly too.

  10. Garyon 30 Sep 2009 at 9:37 pm

it would help if u took a photo. otherwise please describe in more detail, for example when u say the wheel is stuck do you mean it cannot be removed from the axle?

The bearings might be tight on the axle if you did not push them into the wheel completely and they are misaligned.

  11. bobon 30 Sep 2009 at 11:18 pm

erm its like the axel threading is off already, but the wheel stills hangs there. it can spin, but must use quite a lot of force compared to spinning the other wheels. and it spins for 0.5 seconds.

never had the problem before…. maybe something got stuck inside? i scared on retarded terrain like roads and uber rough cement which pwns pwns the tail v quickly

im using bones swiss :( im so gonna murder myself if i gotta change bearings looooo

  12. Garyon 01 Oct 2009 at 2:06 pm

If the wheel cant come off easily it may be because the end of your axle may be damaged slightly which is very normal since you hit the ends of the axle on the ground when your board lands on its side.

as for the bearings not spinning, you either got it wet and they are rusted, or some sand particles got in and damaged them. sand won’t easily enter your bearings unless you removed the shields or they came off from skating.

In either case you should just try cleaning the bearings and oiling them. If you dont know how to clean and oil them properly, the simplest & quickest way (but not the best way) would be to just blast them with WD-40.

i was peaking in from the top of the wheel ( withouth the axel threading on) i think i saw some crap inbetween the wheel and the axel, i tried forcing it out again today but it dint work.

bearings are rusty though. may go to gs and find uncle ed.

    btw doesnt wd-40 kill bearings?

  14. Danielon 01 Oct 2009 at 3:08 pm

wow…the new place is opposite the current place…yay!!!congratz gary!!!

  15. Garyon 01 Oct 2009 at 5:14 pm

I dont understand what you mean by without the axle threading on, do you mean without the nut on?

you can also come by here and i can fix it for you, no wd-40 does not kill bearings. it will take off the old oil in the bearings, but by itself it is a very light oil so you should relube with something else or just be sure to respray wd-40 very often. and of course wipe off any excess or you’ll attract lots of dirt.

sry im not so sure about the terms of trucks. yeah its the nutty thingy. the nuts off but the wheel just stays there stuck. i cannot move it from left to right. it can still roll but i must apply a lot of force on it. 3 days ago it was working fine but it got screwed the day after that.

i dint hv time to down to GS today cuz i has exams :(

may go down tmr after exam cuz lsp closer then gs from clementi.

  17. bobon 02 Oct 2009 at 8:10 pm

thx a lot gary, im so damn sad gonna change bearings during christmas i think. stupid rain

good luck for the future skate park. really love lsp, great place , great people , great skate sessions

  18. bobon 02 Oct 2009 at 8:36 pm

btw gary u know u told me abt the full cera bearings, how come people done make the cage and outer thingy out of stainless steel? is it possible?

  19. Garyon 02 Oct 2009 at 10:00 pm

people do make stainless steel bearings but they are not as hard as chrome steel therefore it is not used for skateboard bearings which have to withstand a lot of abuse.

i forgot about titanium bearings (titanium nitride coated bearings), theoretically they should be more resistant to corrosion, however i do not know if you can trust the brands who sell “titanium” bearings, whether every part of the bearing is coated.

in any case you should not get your board wet, the other steel parts will rust such as your axle and most of all the deck will get damaged and lose its “pop”

    Hey Gary/barry,
Are all the new stuff up yet ? planning on getting some shirts and shoe but i’m kinda lazy to go down there. Is delivery still available ?

  21. bobon 02 Oct 2009 at 11:25 pm

alright, thx for the help. staying away from rain . shit im gonna die in dec when it rains daily

  22. bobon 02 Oct 2009 at 11:29 pm

btw gary, i head modus has titanium bearings, the ones that cost around 80+ like bones swiss Og. saw them once at GS.

have you ever tried them? if im not wrong modus ceramics and titanium are skate rated too.

  23. Garyon 03 Oct 2009 at 1:43 am

isaac: im still putting up the new stuff when i have the time, shoes are all up, lots of t shirts not done yet. if you are getting clothing/shoes you definitely should come down anyway to try them on before making a purchase based on pics.

barry and hiromi no longer work for LSP

bob: i personally have never tried ceramics or titanium bearings. in my opinion all of the skate brands put out good enough steel bearings (for my use) and they are pretty much all the same. i used to just buy the cheapest i could get and i have no complaints. Right now i use the $20 Momentum Abec 5.

Whether you use bones swiss or the Momentum A5s, they are made of pretty much the same materials and will perform and wear out just the same. Moving up to ceramic hybrids or titanium should make a difference from common steel bearings so if you had money to spend on something it would be better to spend it on different materials and not marketing terms such as higher ABEC numbers, “skate rated” or “Swiss”. imho.

  24. bobon 03 Oct 2009 at 11:19 am

alright, but do tell how they feel if you get your new ones
