Singapore Xtreme Championship Results

Published by Gary at 4:59 am under News

We were not able to check it out on Saturday cos it coincided with the last day of our skatepark. On Sunday it rained the entire day and so everyone put on their speedos and swam a couple of laps in the bowl/pool while the winners were decided based on their preliminary results from Day 1.

Congratulations to Singapore’s very own Juraimi for taking first place! Weerayut from Thailand takes 2nd, and 3rd place went to Fadzil(?). I got the pic and info here.

I can’t say anything about how it went down cos i wasn’t there but im sure everyone skated insanely well. I will however be honest enough to say that NParks should really look into getting some better known skateboarding pros for their next event:P

Nparks should consider building some damn shelter in the grass area, So that if skaters where to get caught in a thunder storm or rain there will be a sheltered area. It’s amazing how Singapore built a skatepark at east coast with no damn shelter.

  2. Matthewon 01 Sep 2009 at 11:36 am

Singapore authorities suck. They already know that Singapore is so hot and humid and they don’t wanna build indoor parks like lsp.

  3. charleson 01 Sep 2009 at 2:28 pm

if you dont like singapore, then get out? singapore already built a world class skatepark like ecp. the only reason why they had to close lsp down was cos the neighbours complianed. stop blaming singapore for everything. dont like it, get out.

  4. Big nose monsteron 01 Sep 2009 at 5:15 pm

And so, my fellow Lspreans: ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country

  5. Finchon 01 Sep 2009 at 5:59 pm

to Matthew and Allister, dont whine like a bloody dog u assholes, SG is a great country to live in , with world class sk8park, u guys are so blessed, try staying in 3rd world country, u idiots!

  6. bobon 01 Sep 2009 at 7:43 pm

nice amount of haters here ^^

  7. Matthewon 01 Sep 2009 at 9:14 pm

At least I’m talking some sense. If you got nothing nice to say then stfu.

  8. Ruennshengon 01 Sep 2009 at 11:31 pm

Hey there, I thought of three places I know ofwhere you guys can set up a new indoor skate park:

    (1) Kallang/Lavendar, it’s still smoky and dirty there with work on the Sports Hub, but a skate park would be a good respite from all these undesirable stuff.

    (2) Turf City. Why no one visits there? No one will complain if people flock there though for the indoor skate park…

    (3) The shophouses in Upper Bukit Timah — quite seedy if farther away from the Linear (a condominium) but can give it a try. And good transport links, too (bus services from the city as well as from Woodlands/Malaysia)

Though I think the first option is the most viable though most undesirable, due to its relative remoteness. However, industrial spaces are in low demand and can be easily converted to recreational uses like skateboarding. I notice indoor soccer grounds around that area (as well as near Turf City), why not skateboarding? Just ask the URA though (which are directly in charge of this issue).

If I forget everything else, I will only remember one thing about skateboarding: ‘Skateboards do not mix with water… or else they’re unusable’. No matter what the authorities may have in mind, with the Planning Act (Chapter 232) and whatsoever ‘nonsense’, an indoor skate park is not just a boon for Singapore but also a necessity for local skaters.

I wish Singapore can have a skatepark like The Flow SKatepark in Columbus, Ohio, United States…

  9. charleson 01 Sep 2009 at 11:35 pm

matthew, a 12 year old KID, telling people who have much more sense than him, telling them to stfu? when he/SHE keeps complaining about everything, who should be the one keeping her trap shut. thanks Bignosemonster and finch for backing me. singapore is a great place to live/skate, and if you dont like it, get out or dont complain.

  10. naskyon 01 Sep 2009 at 11:38 pm

damm…chill guys, the park is new, i bet they will make shelters soon after many comments, even shops should be open… it will be better next time. and ya get a better skater for the demo pls!

  11. Garyon 02 Sep 2009 at 12:19 am

    chill.

    ruennsheng:
thanks for the suggestions, will look into them.

turfcity has no more GFA, that means they can give me open space but im not allowed to cover it up. they could possibly give me a little space in the mall but when i said i was in skateboarding the guy was not interested.

if you stare at LSP from the entrance, just a lil to the left is some warehouse which i believe is abandoned? i thought maybe you guys could try that location =)

  13. danyelvitoon 02 Sep 2009 at 1:04 am

singapore to little skatepark complain, singapore got skatepark, also complain.singapore make an INTERNATIONAL CLASS SKATE PARK ALSO COMPLAIN!! wat do this kinda ppl want? unhappy that singapore never make indoor like LSP? then do your own like me! make own rail and stuff like that…

stop complaining and be greatfull of wat we have, okay?

  14. Garyon 02 Sep 2009 at 1:14 am

the abandoned thing beside us is state property. this means we have to first convince them to activate the land for lease, which is not easy and time consuming. secondly they will put the land up for tender which is like an auction so anyone can bid to get the land. this whole process takes a long time and we will not be able to pay lots so we will definitely not be able to win the auction considering that location is worth lots of money.

  15. ratnoron 02 Sep 2009 at 1:19 am

less talk more rock. lets all pool for LSP. email some authorities about LSP closing down, and how much it effected the community.
singapore is lucky enough to have a world class skatepark that’s built by the authority, but we dun have a world class skatepark built by skaters, run by skaters.. like LSP ( since its closed down )

You know what guys/girls !!? After reading the above comments i find that you guys are just bunch of bonzos. Because you guys should stop complaining just skate what they built the is what you called skateboarders. Instead of complaining.
You people start complaining because you are not a skateboarders you guys skate because its trends and because your friends does.or you family are rich to buy you the most expensive shoes and set up. If you are a real skateboarders you will be able to skate any obstacles terrain without any complain.dun be like other. Be yourself you got a skate board just ride anything.

P.s: You people should stop Skateboarding while you can before its to late. and dun try hard dying. Peace rock n rolling.
