R.I.P. miniLSP

Published by Gary at 8:00 am under News

LAST DAY: SATURDAY, 29 AUGUST 2009

1) We just got the official letter from URA, and we will have to get rid of the skatepark by 29 AUGUST2009.

2) We have lost a huge amount of money so we will be raising the skatepass to $5 per hour (It used to be $3 per hour after the first hour)

3) If you are using an Alien Workshop or Habitat deck, your skatepass will remain unchanged, which is $5 for the first hour and $3 per hour after that. Thank you for your support!

4) We have no idea where or when we will re-open as it is extremely difficult to get a location.R.I.P. miniLSP

If you want to book private sessions at miniLSP, just email or call us a few days in advance to make an appointment. The booking must be between 10am to 1pm Mondays to Saturdays, before we open for business. The rate is $50 per hour for up to 5 persons, and $10 per hour for each additional person.

    Omg..

  18. gawyneon 07 Aug 2009 at 5:12 pm

what time do u open in the morning? i want to go down there to skate at least once before it closes :(!

  19. Garyon 07 Aug 2009 at 5:21 pm

We open from 1pm to 8pm mondays to saturdays but you can book private sessions from 10am to 1pm at minimum $50 per hour for up to 5 persons, and $10 per hour for additional persons.

We will move out completely because there is no way the shop alone can survive and anyway our purpose is to make a skatepark, we only have a shop because it is impossible to survive on just admission fees.

There is no way we can get out of this via petitions or anything like that, we have clearly broken the law by building a skatepark inside a shophouse. If we do not get rid of the skatepark in 25 days i could be fined up to $200,000 and jailed for a year lol.

  20. :(on 07 Aug 2009 at 6:23 pm

  26. MuchMoreskateon 08 Aug 2009 at 9:44 am

Thank to everyone we shall see you at Ecp on national day

  27. Anonymouson 08 Aug 2009 at 10:03 am

    Hi barry/garry
Since the place has to be shut down why not do a good contest.

  28. pop&dragon 08 Aug 2009 at 10:09 am

Didn’t you guys know more about this “buliding a skatepark inside a shophouse” thingy before you even started on minilsp? I mean you know this is bound to happened right, its singapore!

Respect the sprits of you guys but you must have loss a huge load here.

Good luck for future ventures, looking forward to them.

  29. Garyon 08 Aug 2009 at 10:24 am

yes we will have some special event before we close but it probably will not be limited to a traditional competition. we will try to think of little games and contests so that everyone has a chance of winning regardless of skill level.

pop&drag: it was a risk that we took, and it would have been fine if not for the complaints from our neighbors and them reporting us to the authorities. there are tons of people who do not comply with all the regulations, but the authorities will rarely take action unless someone makes a complaint.
our downfall was underestimating the structure-borne transmission of the skateboarding noise and how difficult and prohibitively expensive it would be to solve.

  30. danielon 08 Aug 2009 at 10:36 am

hmm i thought they said they would have to remove the skatepark totally?
are u guys gonna sell the parts away or store it somewhere?

  45. omg :(on 11 Aug 2009 at 3:21 pm

please at least have the shop! if the bike shop next door can do it so can you!

  46. Garyon 11 Aug 2009 at 6:26 pm

the bike market is huge, thats why there are like 200 bike shops in sg, compared to like 5 skateshops. And anyway we are only a skateshop out of neccesity (we need the money to survive) and our only goal is to make the best indoor skatepark in sg. We are not interested in being just another skateshop.

we will have one final goodbye event day thingy on the last day which is on Saturday 29th August.

everything in the store like ramps and stock we will most probably keep it in storage somewhere and use them again when we get a new location. The online store will still be operational tho.

  47. :(on 11 Aug 2009 at 7:15 pm

Damn, wanted to buy the qp.

  48. Anonymouson 11 Aug 2009 at 7:25 pm

  53. tomon 13 Aug 2009 at 11:20 pm

for what its worth youre not just another skateshop, you guys are the cheapest and best value for money skateshop and are actually good skaters too. it was nice to know you guys tried to do something great for the skate community.

its sad that we will lose such a great store, i loved buying stuff from lsp cause i knew you guys always did ur best to sell stuff as cheap as possible.
