Introduction to Skateboarding Part 1: How Fun is Skateboarding?

Published by Gary at 12:17 am under Articles

If you have ever met surfers you would know that all they talk about is how much fun surfing is. It must be really fun because one time I was stuck in the cinema and on the screen a bunch of Penguins were going on and on about surfing. holy crap. Penguins!

Surfing is super-fun and thats a fact that even penguins know. But what do you do when you can’t find waves at the beach and the movie JAWS has left you with a phobia of evil sea creatures? If you want to experience some of that board-riding fun, you will be delighted to know that skateboarding was essentially born out of the desire to “surf” on land.

Board-riding sports have come a long way since surfing and skateboarding. We now have snowboarding, snowskating, wakeboarding, wakeskating,  kungfuboarding and kungfuskating. Ok, I made the last 2 up in that list but my point is that it’s obvious that board-riding is immensly pleasurable. And it is! But which of the board-riding sports is best?

Well in my opinion, skateboarding offers one of the simplest and purest forms of board-riding. It definately allows the most freedom, variation and challenges. It is just you, your skateboard and anything you want to skate. There are no waves, snow or boats to depend on and nothing is strapped to your feet when the sharks and snowmonsters come for you.

Skateboarding is board-riding fun at its best, and is limited only by your creativity.
