whats going on

Published by Gary at 8:16 am under News

Heres whats holding us up with the skatepark.

Basically early in the year we made a deal with X to rent land to build the skatepark on… but its more complicated than that.

X actually rents the land from Y, and Y rents the land from Z, who is the land owner.

The first thing we needed before we could get anything done was to get an OK from Z, and X  assured us that everything was gonna be smooth sailing and not to worry.

That was more than 6 months ago.

Somehow, for more than 6 months now we have been accepting excuses from X as to why things were taking so long for a simple OK letter from Z. We were told several stories, all in rather vague and evasive manners, and all we could do was be patient. The latest we’ve heard is that they are STILL trying to settle their disputes and although Z is ready to say OK to us, they cannot do so until their dispute with X and Y is settled.

Anyway the whole thing is stressing us out and we might not be able to update the site as much. We’re working on some other stuff in the meantime while we stress over whether to continue waiting for X or say bye to all the money and preliminary work and find another location.

yea man, thats messed up. We had the same problem with our shop too. X rents it from Y and Y rents it from the government. There was no delay but we got charged 15000 more then it should be. But we signed the contract so nothing doing, Y asked us to drag it out until they changed the price but of course they didnt. Anyhow, after a year we went straight to Y and rented it from her instead. You guys should just go straight to the source and talk about it. fuck the middle man.

new location sounds like a pretty good idea:)

is a warehouse much more expensive??just suggesting:)

a prebuilt structure like a warehouse may be cheaper, and actually that was what we were planning to do last year however we never found anything suitable. Even if we did find a warehouse that was awesome, we would still need to apply for change of use to sports, this is not easy as most warehouses are located in industrial estates and they wouldnt want people doing sports in the area.

At this time we don’t really wanna go back to that plan because we have already spent a lot on our consultants, pre-fab structure, and airconditioners etc that have been delivered many months ago so its not easy to salvage what we have already invested thus far if we moved into a building.

hey, how much are u guys planning to spend on the park? and i saw a pic on fico’s page that says that there is a park there, whats happening?

fico has some problems with their landlord and the landowner. I think the go kart track was built months ago but they are still not allowed to operate. We are pretty much in the same boat except we didn’t go ahead with construction before all approvals were done. If we did we would have a complete skatepark that isn’t allowed to operate. that doesn’t sound too bad actually, its better than the situation we are in now.
