ChunCheon 2008 International Leisure Games
From Friday Sept 5th to 7th , the city of Chuncheon in South Korea held the 2008 International Leisure Games. The games are home to a variety of sports including aggressive inline skating, skateboarding, bmx, rock climbing, water skiing, and break dancing just to name a few. Over 2000 athletes competed from over 21 countries including participants from Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Brunei, Thailand, Indonesia, UAE, Hong Kong and of course Korea. In specific to the B3 Championships (aggressive inline, skateboarding and bmx 200 athletes battled against one another for the top prize of 1,500,000 Won.
Singapore sent it’s own team of athletes to compete in this years games headed by honorary president and technical coordinator of the Asian Extreme Sports Federation (AXF) Mr. Eddie Goh

Team Singapore
The Asian Extreme Sports Federation (AXF) has been appointed by the city of Chuncheon to host the International Leisure Games that will start in 2008 and lead to the grand finale, the World Leisure Games in 2010. Below is a video invitation to the 2010 Games.
The city of Chuncheon is the capital of Gangwon province and is roughly 2 hours north of Seoul. There are many rivers and large lakes surrounding the city which makes for some breathtaking scenery, which unfortunately I did not manage to photograph well.

The city is also historically known as a center for chicken farms and thus its not surprising that “Dak Galbi” or chicken ribs is the most famous customary dish here. After the Prelims our Korean hosts were kind enough to take us out to savor this fine cuisine.
The international standard course is constructed entirely from quality skatelite pro and features a design that lets skaters flow through the course without having to push too much. The ramps and rails are big! and require a high level of skill in order to perform well on the 40m x 40m course.

Congratulations to Firdaus, Nazeer, Wan Kecik and Dde for all making it into the Finals. An even bigger congratulations to Firdaus for taking home 1st place!
It was a tough competition with all the skateboarders performing at a high level. Well done team Singapore! A big thank you needs to go out to Eddie Goh, all the members of the AXF and the Korean eXtremesport Federation for putting on this magnificent event.

Hi Barry. nice to met you at Chuncheon
I miss that didn’t taken picture with you a lot cause no enough time~
congratulations Firdaus ! & congratulations Nazeer Best Trick
Did you guys film anything there? whens your park going to open, u must have a expected completion date bynow? will your park have any wooden transitions? Barry said you guys will have a mellow miniramp but i didn’t see it in the plans? is chunchon almost same size? looks like a mega park
barry had to judge so he wasnt able to film much but i think we will release a video of what little he got soon. we dont have an expected completion date because we are waiting to get a letter from HDB (the landowner) and we have no idea how long we have to wait as there are complications between our landlord, their landlord, and the landowner HDB.
no our park will not look like the chuncheon course as it will be more of a concrete plaza style. Half the park will be left empty tho and that is where we will probably purchase classic skateboard park obstacles such as funboxes and miniramps. chuncheon is 40m by 40m we are going to be about 40m by 30m.
